"Expanding on the classic arrangement of Primary and Modulator Oscillators, the DPO has both of the VCOs operable as complex signal sources. It is in essence a Dual Primary Oscillator.
Vintage voiced, all analog
Triangle Core with Sine, Saw, Spike & Square wave shapes
Dedicated FM and Mod buses
Modulation source signals are internally routed with associated destination CV attenuators setting final depths
Mod Bus has added capability of using external source (patched at EXT. SouRCe input) in place of VCO 1 Sine
Bi-Directional Dynamic FM Bus allows for circular FM
VCO A features Hard Sync circuit which combined Dynamic FM yields complex sounds
VCO A operates as LFO, perfect for slow morphing of VCO B timbres
VCO B features complex timbral control through the use of a 3 parameter waveform shaping and Dynamic FM
Utilizes SIX Vactrols
Pairs well with the Echophon
Width:
28hp
Max Depth:
30mm
Power:
70mA@ +12V
70mA @ -12V"

"Another excellent module from the wizards at Make Noise, the optomix is two low pass gates that can be used seperately, or together, or intermixed with Make Noise's other module the Moddemix... Very versatile, goes far beyond the standard "Buchla Bongo" sound, which it does beautifully of course. It's also DC coupled so you can use it to manipulate CVs too, which is a nice bonus. Plenty of functionality in a small, skiff-friendly package and with that amazing design Make Noise are known for. Seriously, it looks crazy at first sight but those symbols and lines soon make perfect sense."

"First version of the legendary Maths module, with red LEDs for the function generators. An absolute boatload of uses in this'un. Now this one does have a slight fault on it - The middle top knob, for the first attenuverter, is a little bit wobbly so while it does work it does need to be pushed in slightly for it to do so. All the other channels work as advertised so while there is a slight reduction in overall functionality you do still get the lovely AD generators with the variable curves and all the other goodness you've come to know and love from this highly regarded module. If you're a whizz with the soldering iron it's probably relatively easy to fix. A lot of the early Make Noise stuff had slightly waggly controls and this is just an unfortunate effect of that. They've gotten a lot better recently. So please be aware of this issue while bidding!.."

Make Noise Rene Cartesian sequencer
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction
"So yeah, here's one of the sequencer modules put out by the unstoppably amazing and great Make Noise. Rene's really good - as you can see there's two matrices here, one of pots (which light up when the step is active in a manner that can only be described as "really cool") and the other a grid of touch sensitive pads which you use to program what's going on, play specific steps, and so on and so forth. Two separate clock inputs give you lots of control in how the sequences moves around, plus there's a quantised and an unquantised output and two gate outputs for each axis. Like all Make Noise stuff it looks amazing and is highly desirable but I've officially run out of space and money so it needs to go to it's next loving home. It's in excellent condition, doesn't even have the rack rash you'd get on a module with a metal faceplate..."

Make Noise Phonogene - Looper

"The Phonogene is a digital re-visioning and elaboration of the tape recorder as musical instrument, similar to a homonymous instrument by Pierre Schaeffer. although it´s not an emulation of this instrument it bases on the main ideas. It is informed by the worlds of Musique Concrète (where speed and direction variation were combined with creative tape splicing to pioneer new sounds) and Microsound (where computers allow for sound to be divided into pieces smaller then 1/10 of a second, and manipulated like sub-atomic particles).
The Phonogene is comprised of a pair of tool-sets which work well together. Tape Music Tools allow for sounds to be recorded on the fly, layered using the internal Sound On Sound function, manually cut into pieces using the SPLICE function, and re-organized with the ORGANIZE control. Once it is Spliced up, it is possible to create nearly infinite variations of the original loop by modulating the ORGANIZE parameter, and VARI-SPEED allows for the speed and direction of playback to be controlled continuously with one control signal. GENE-SIZE, GENE-SHIFT and SLIDE make up the Microsound Tools. GENE-SIZE divides the audio buffer into progressively smaller pieces called Genes (aka particles, grains, granules). A clock signal applied to GENE-SHIFT will step through those pieces in chronological order, while a control signal (such as the Wogglebug Smooth CV) applied to SLIDE, moves through those pieces in a nonlinear fashion. Using SLIDE, random access of the audio buffer is possible. Obviously, functions such as VARI-SPEED and ORGANIZE are useful for Microsound as well, which is why these functions were grouped into one module. The end result is a sampler/ looper/ audio buffer that is able to exist within a modular synthesizer system, and offer a vast amount of real-time sound manipulation in a fast and tactile way.
There is often the expectation that “bad sounds” such as clicks, pops, distortions, wrong notes, phase in-accuracies and otherwise, should be impossible with modern musical instruments. Many designers are making instruments which are fool-proof, and which guarantee some specific musical result, thus making it easy to create the same music, over and over again. The Phonogene does NOT use this approach. In fact, we have made it very possible to make the “bad sounds” and “mistakes” that have led to some of the greatest moments in musical history (and of course, some of the worst!). With the Phonogene, it is possible to Splice sounds in such a way that you will hear sharp contrasts, clicks and pops. This is the physics of sound! It is possible to slow down a recording to point of complete decimation, so that all that remains is trail of digital artifacts. Such are the limitations of digital sound (at the moment). It is possible to render the source material completely unintelligible, to cut busted loops, to distort digitally, to obscure, to regenerate to the point of almost no signal integrity. This is the nature of the Phonogene. If you seek the perfect looping tool, in the most contemporary sense of the word, then please look elsewhere. If you desire to explore the realm of modular, digital sample manipulation and microsound, welcome!

Make Noise Maths

"maths builds on the tradition set into motion in the 1960's by don buchla when he adapted the circuits found within analog computers common to engineering labs, for musical purposes.
buchla's "algebraic processor, model 257" changed the way music synthesizers utilized control voltages. maths, a mash-up of the buchla 281, buchla 257 & serge dusg, continues this great tradition of sculpting the control signals we use to sculpt our sound signals.
channels 1 and 4 are identical, each being able to scale, invert or integrate an incoming signal.
with no signal applied, these channels may be made to generate a variety of linear, logarithmic, or exponential functions, lasting as long as 25 minutes, upon the reception of a trigger, or continuously when the cycle switch is engaged.
the cycle switch also contains a led which indicates the activity on the associated channel. one small difference between ch. 1 and 4 is in their respective pulse outputs; ch.1 having end of rise and ch. 2 having end of cycle. this was done to facilitate the creation of complex functions.
channels 2 and 3 are identical, each being able to scale, amplify and invert an incoming signal. with no external signal applied, these channels will generate dc offsets.
all 4 channels are normalized to a sum and or bus via their respective outputs, so that addition, subtraction and analog logic or manipulations may be achieved.
all outputs are capable of driving a passive 4 way mult without loading effects (no buffered mult needed here)."
