Ensoniq ESQ-1

images via this auction
"Similar to the Mirage synth/sampler, the ESQ-1 was Ensoniq's highly affordable and impressive digital synthesizer. Although the waveforms are digital in nature, the filters are all analog as on the Mirage. In fact, for a digital synth the ESQ-1 has many good old analog-synth features such as a ring modulator, sequencer, and oscillator-sync. The envelopes and LFOs are can be freely routed to each DCO, VCA and or VCF. There are 40 preset sounds which are the usual not-so-great sounds. Luckily the VFD display screen is large enough to make editing the sounds somewhat pleasant.

What really sets the ESQ-1 apart from other similar synths is the voice architecture. Choose from analog, digital, or samples or any combo since there are three independent oscillators per voice! Once you start editing on the ESQ-1 you will come up with interesting and unique results. Using dynamic voice allocation it can seemlesly switch from 8-voices of analog to 8-voices of digital or sampled voices! This gives you a wide array of different sonic elements at your fingertips!"

MOOG Little Phatty Stage Edition

via this auction
"The Little Phatty Stage Edition has the same features and sound engine as the wildly popular Tribute Edition. Designed by Moog founder and inventor the late Bob Moog, the Little Phatty is a monophonic analog synthesizer with 100 user editable presets. The Stage Edition boasts improved software and a unique auto-calibration feature.

The Little Phatty Stage Edition synthesizer puts the performer in control of a 100% analog signal path with Real Analog Control, two ultra stable Voltage Controlled Oscillators and one Voltage Controlled Filter among other versatile features like CV inputs, KB gate and a full MIDI controller. Real Analog Control (RAC) is a proprietary technology enabling the performer to directly interface with the analog circuitry via the knobs on the control panel, without any digital processing.

It includes updated software with auto calibration and an auto tune function that ensures the instrument is tuned perfectly whether it's in a cool studio or under hot stage lighting. Add in an asymmetric pitch wheel, 21 assignable MIDI controllers and well as arbitrary pot mapping and you can see that the stage edition gives you precise control over your sound.

The Little Phatty is aesthetically pleasing both aurally and visually. A striking design makes it one of the coolest looking synths on the planet. The Stage Edition departs from a traditional wood cabinet and is cradled instead by sleek, charcoal-colored rubberized side panels."
