"This is a Simmons SDS-8 analog drum machine from 1983. The sound is very similar to its brother unit the SDS-V. The Simmons machines were meant to be played w/ drum pad triggers. This machine does not have MIDI or a built in sequencer. Besides electronic drum pads... this machine can also be triggered with other analog control such as GATE triggers and plain audio as a trigger. It is common that people who own devices such as the Roland TR series or Yamaha RX series drum machines use the individual outs of their machines to control Simmons units. The synthesis on these types of machines is much more flexible than the average drum machine of the 80's era."
