Oberheim Matrix 6R

via this auction
"Vintage six voice polyphonic analog synthesizer conveniently housed in a 3U rack space. Each voice features: two oscillators (PWM, variable wave shaping, sync), a 24 db/oct lowpass filter with resonance, three envelopes, two LFOs, and much more!

Using the modulation matrix you can route pretty much everything to anything. For instance, have velocity control LFO speed which tweaks the resonance. It is a very flexible instrument reminiscent of a modular synthesizer with polyphony. Can also do two different sounds at once via keyboard split/layer option. Warm analog sound for fat basses, leads, crazy FX, and gorgeous lush pads."

"Original late 1970's Arp Omni 2 Analog Synthesizer with Original Operators Manual. This synth. was unique for its time because you could combine multiple preset string sounds with a seperate synthesizer section and get a rich string/synth. orchastral sound. Its string sounds include Violin, Viola,Cello and Bass. It utilizes a ADSR envelope generator and has Hollow waveform and Phaser functions."

Roland Super JX (JX-10)

images at this auction
"A Roland Super JX-10 in near-mint condition. It is a later serial number with the updated ROM (probably 1988), and a 3-Prong grounded cord. It's the last analog synth Roland produced, running stable DCO waveform generators (in a 24-oscillator configuration) through traditional analog VCA, chorus, and VCF. It's strength is the ability to sound metallic and digital like a DX7, while still able to accurately build great Jupiter-like sawtooths and lush pads. The keyboard is wonderfully playable, fast, comfy, and responsive. It can do floating split-points and has a key chase function that was way ahead of its time for a non multitimbral instrument. It has a 50 patch memory, but it comes with an empty M64C cartridge for extra room for more custom sound-saving."

Novation KS4

images at this auction
"Using an enhanced version of the K-Station sound engine, the KS4 (four octave keyboard) and the KS5 (five octaves) offer many additional features and benefits.

The keyboards have aftertouch, are semi-weighted, and each of the 33 knobs and sliders transmit MIDI. There is four part multi-timbral operation with four individual assignable outputs. A big plus is a separate effects section for each part - a unique Novation feature from the Supernova. Also featured are 4 Arpeggiators and 16 note polyphony with a 16 band Vocoder.

The KS-synths have 3 oscillators which provide sawtooth, triangle, sine, pulse width modulation and other waveforms. There's even a simple FM synth engine which can be dialed in for sharpening the sound. Oscillators may be set to Unison or Sync'd operation and a Noise source is also included in the waveform engine. There is a nice low-/band-/high-pass resonant filter with switchable 12 or 24dB/oct slopes and ADSR controls. A second ADSR envelope is available for the amp, as well as two LFOs with sample-and-hold and MIDI sync.

On-board effects include reverb and delay/chorus/flanger. Their send levels can be controlled by the Mod wheel which is a nice effect. A 12-band vocoder is also on-board for processing external mono sounds such as drum loops or vocals. Pads sound great when vocoded with external sounds. External sounds can also be used as an oscillator, run through the filters, envelopes, etc. with much better results than were possible on the original Bass Stations.

"FEATURES:

Virtual Analog

It combines classic ideas with today's technology. This synthesizer has it all... and more. Awesome leads, booming basses, frantic techno - at your fingertips. Every function has a knob. No more menus! Total real time control and instant accessibility make it a breeze to shape the sounds exactly the way you want them. Play with the filter and resonance knob and enjoy the precise tracking and the superb sound quality. You can program any parameter change to velocity and do your licks. Our new high precision "Pitch Stick" gives you complete control of the pitch and allows you to make a true and natural vibrato - just like a violin player! Add a whole new dimension to your playing!

Velocity Programming (Morphing)

A special velocity programming section can be controlled by the modulation wheel making it possible to continuously "morph" between two parameter settings. This feature is a musically expressive tool that lets you shape your sounds while you play. This feature can also be routed to the modulation wheel.

Midi

Let's go MIDI Triggering! In the studio, Nord Lead offers real time MIDI recording of the knob settings and special "MIDI patches" to recreate many of the effects produced by external patching on traditional units. For example, let your pre-recorded drumpattern trigger filter and amplifier envelopes, where the Hi-hat pattern triggers the filter envelope and the Kickdrum pattern simultaneously triggers the amplifier envelope. Use Nord Lead in this way and you'll be able to create fascinating poly-rhythmic patterns. The programmable velocity function can also be controlled from a separate MIDI source. All MIDI triggering can be done from separate programmable MIDI channels. The Nord Lead's LFO's and the arpeggiator can be synched to a MIDI clock.

Four Synthesizers in one!

There are four parts which are directly accessible from the front panel. This makes it possible to instantly create layers with up to four different sounds, where each separate sound in the layer can easily be edited in real time. Make up super patches in the Performance section. Create monster basses and mega pads. But it doesn't stop here. The sounds in a layer can be programmed by the special Morph function making it possible to fade sounds and parameters and create an unlimited number of exciting patches.
