"The Micro Synthesizer can create many effects via the "voice mix" and "filter sweep" modulation sections. The "voice mix" section provides three additional sounds which can be mixed with the input signal; sub octave, octave, and "square wave" (similar to an older solid-state distorted sound such as you'd get with a Fuzz Face). These voices can then be filtered by the "filter sweep" modulation section. Here the user can specify a start frequency, a stop frequency, filter resonance, and the rate of sweeping. By varying the combination of voices and sweeps you can create many different kinds of sounds -- straight-up distortion, fixed-filter effects (similar to turning on a wah pedal and leaving it in place), octave doubling (up or down), sweeping filter effects (up or down), etc. There's also an "attack delay" control that can be used to delay the onset of the filter sweep so that it only sweeps during sustained notes. The final control, "trig", is used to adjust the sensitivity of the envelope follower which triggers the filter sweep section." microsynthesizer_manual.pdf
