"German synth unit of exceptional quality. The classic Waldorf 'wavetable' sound is here in abundance with the original yellow Q.
Or Virtual Modeled Analogue to give the Q its sunday name
Glassy and crisp the sound cuts through the darkest murk of a heavy beat below. Founded on its wavetable method of synthesis it gives the user many serious options for manipulating the sound to a distinct clean tone.
You can hear the heritage of the Microwave and the PPG filter all over it.
Waldorfs' are hard to find out and about in shops and this one is the full fat version, not the cut down Micro-q that is currently doing the rounds
Overall a great synth offering an alternative digital sound to the over-cooked Virus or Nord you hear on everything. High quality built in FX and arpeggiatos + sequencers
With up to 5 oscillators on tap the Q can make a wide range of sounds from heavy subs to orchestral strikes and alarm like leads; through to experimental sci-fi effects. Not a problem for the Q. It can lend its sonic talents to many different styles of music from indie to dark-wave, electronic tracks to metal. Its not an easy synth to use though by any means and requires work to really fully understand all its functions which seem endless.
