It's an 8-voice hybrid analog synth, which means it uses digital waveforms (two digital oscillators per voice) through a fully analog VCF and VCA. The VCF/VCA chip is the amazing NJM2069, a custom chip for Korg which is well-known for its rich, warm, and powerful sound. Also in the EX-8000 is a built-in digital delay, which really adds to the palette of the synth."
