Yamaha TG77

images via this auction
"This is the rack mount version to the SY-77, except without the keyboard, sequencer and 3.5 disk drive are gone. These modules have awesome sounds and are very usable in today’s music. These have been used on a lot of records from various artists, from Toto, Brian Eno and Chick Corea and many others. This unit features 16 voices of polyphony for the FM section and another 16 voices for the sampled sounds. There are also 4 independent digital multi-effects which include Reverb, Delay, Chorus and Panning features. The screen is very a large size to view everything easily and make parameter changes. "

Wiard Woggle Bug

via this auction
"Wiard: The Woggle Bug is an utterly unique module that produces complex random voltages and tones. It reproduces the set of random voltages available from the original Buchla Model 265 "Source of Uncertainty" module. This long out of production module is representative of the most musical random voltage generators produced in the first "Golden Age" of modular synthesizers. The Woggle Bug adds 4 permanently coupled audio VCOs to the random voltage outputs. Through a design trick, the single mechanical module contains the equivalent functionality of 18 electrical modules. Obviously, all the patch points cannot be brought out to the front panel. The modules are permanently patched into a unique arrangement of two identical "Woggle Bugs" and their "Child Tones". Each Woggle Bug has 3 control voltage inputs, 4 control voltage outputs and 5 audio outputs. Child tones are the ring modulated outputs of the two Woggle Bug "parents". The control voltage outputs are the reason for the module and correspond to the more traditional sample and hold units with lag processors as found in other modulars. The module produces stepped, smoothed (lag processed) and "woggled" (stepped voltages with decaying sinusoids at the edges) control voltages in the range of 0 to 10 volts. These voltages are usable with any other brand of voltage controlled modular. The audio tones are essentially a "free" add-on due to the design trick. The smooth voltages are produced by cascaded lag processors which produce a "very" smooth voltage that produces natural sounding wind and surf patches. The module as a whole produces 10 simultaneously available electronic tonalities. The tonalities are deliberately very raw in nature. Part of the 1950's sound is the simple square and sawtooth waveforms output by electronic test equipment. Mixed together and put through a tape delay, well, you'll be doing battle with your Id monster in no time! This applies to only some settings of the 10 controls and some of the 10 outputs. Other settings produce the sound of very large insects, or swarms of large insects. It can not make keyboard sounds and can not be controlled by a keyboard. Hooray!"

Wiard Sequantizer

via this auction

"Here are some words from Wiard: This Sequantizer , a sequencer-quantizer module, is a voltage stage-selectable eight step voltage source with semi-tone quantizer, lag processor, control voltage mixer and transposer. The unit implements most of the stage performance controls from a Roland TB-303 including octave transpose up, octave transpose down and slide on/off. Each stage has a diode isolated gate output which can be multipled together for an accent bus. The quantizer has an external transpose input for a keyboard. The quantizer and 0-10V outputs are available simultaneously. Also, the digital counter and flash A/D input are X-ored together so adjustment of the "Select" input during sequencing permutes the sequence pattern. (like the random switch on a ARP sequencer, only more controlled.) The Sequantizer module contains: * An eight step analog sequencer. Stage selection is by voltage or by counter * A voltage quantizer * A control voltage mixer and transposer * A jack multiple"

Wiard VCO

via this auction
"Wiard 300 series classic VCO
The Classic VCO is the highest quality analog oscillator module ever made. It produces the standard classic analog waveshapes -- sine, triangle, sawtooth and pulse with pulse width modulation. It also has a unique random voltage output which provides 64 random voltage levels. In the audio range, this sounds like "noise" of various colors depending on the tuning of the oscillator. In the "low" range, it can be used in the same way as a noise generator feeding a sample and hold. The Classic VCO has three exponential control inputs, one with attenuator. It also has an AC coupled linear input with attenuator and a propotional sychronization control with attenuator. In addition, this module contains a simple attack-release envelope generator (which can also be used as an envelope follower or lag processor) and a voltage controlled amplifier (VCA) with two mixing inputs. The VCA is intended to be used with the "Velocity" output of a MIDI to CV convertor but can be used as a general purpose VCA. The modulated pulse output is normalized to one VCA input while the output of the envelope generator is normalized to the VCA control input. Red and Green Bicolor LEDs monitor three of the waveform outputs and the voltage output of the envelope generator is displayed by the brightness of a fourth LED. The output level of the VCA is displayed on a four LED VU meter. The Classic VCO module contains: A five waveform pure analog oscillator An Attack-Release Envelope Generator. The envelope is set by an internal jumper for either exponential or linear envelopes. A Voltage Controlled Amplifier (VCA) A jack multiple"

Sequential Circuits Six-Trak

images via this auction

"The Sequential Circuits Six-Trak was released in 1984 at a list price of $1295. It is 28’’ wide, 11 ¾’ deep, 4 ¼ high, weighing in at 18 pounds. It features a 4 octave, non touch sensitive, keyboard with non spring loaded pitch and modulation wheels located on the left hand side above the keyboard. My initial impression of the wheel location was negative but after using the board for about a week, I become accustomed to reaching above the keyboard for the wheels. The pitch wheel’s range is a third and is not adjustable. I prefer a spring loaded pitch wheel but this made up in the fact that the six-trak will send and receive pitch and modulation wheel data via midi. The six-trak is a six voice, multi-timbred unit that features an 800 note sequencer, arpegiator, and 100 patch locations. The back panel features and a single audio out (six would have been great and was later implemented in SCI’s multi-trak), midi in and out ports (where’s the thru?), and a control foot switch which can be used to scroll through programs and advance the arpegiator one step at a time.
